Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

Kirkmicheal Nursery school. King of the hill. Watching a few of us roll Chris Lally down the side. Felt like a mountain at the time but probably is only about 6 foot tall! Rest of the time just moving round the nursery no doubt getting up to all sorts.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

A man that knows what he wants to do with his life. Ever since we were teenagers I was hearing 'I want to work for myself and be my own boss'. The dream might not have been for filled yet but I know him and whatever time he has left over he always has a side hustle on the go. Also no matter how long it has been since spoke to each other, conversation is never dull or thin on the ground.

Imagine Andrew became an inanimate object. What would it be, and why?

Something that moves fast. A car? A bullet? His sex life? Because I've never known him to move slowly but he always does things with purpose.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

There are too many to choose from. But the most recent one that makes me laugh and reminds me how immature we still are is the last time he was in Scotland. A wee driving tour up north inclusive of; 1. inappropriate hiking gear/weather/guides/general knowledge 2. hopping in and out of campsites for free 3. sea kayaking during a storm 4. watching him zipping off in a kit car and wishing I had done the same

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

You just keep doing you, because it generates great stories and what are you living for if you don't have any stories worth telling me? Never let anything seem too daunting, too scary or unachievable. Having known you for so long gives me confidence that you'll find a way to navigate yourself through the challenges and come out wiser on the other side. You're only 30 once...so bring back the Lido Pizza and Palace chips Friday night dinner if you know whats good for you. Good times. Enjoy your 30th birthday auld yin. Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

Hard to recall exactly where but was definitely during school at Waterloo when I was rooming with Kev. Andrew and he were in the same class. Getting on 12 years ago! Andrew and Stas met when we partied at Derek's house and then went to that Darude show... about when we started dating.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Hard to pick here so we'll gush over a few. Firstly, amazing storyteller and every story is punctuated by that amazing infectious laughter. Secondly, Andrew is incredibly generous and always gives more than he takes. Finally, Andrew doesn't judge. Some say he lives life according to 'Whatever make's ya happy!"

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

Too many to choose from but definitely our 2-week US Roadtrip in 2013 was a highlight. Old Dusty with the crawfish bisque, and our pal in New Orleans sharing his wisdom and tales of his ex-wife ahaha A couple dozen excellent shows, starting with Kaskade at the Guv a decade ago. Couple of runners! And of course, living at the old Regency apartment with roomies!

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Keep following your head & your heart. You've blazed a hell of a trail for yourself, going off to Vietnam and landing finally in California. Keep close those friends that you can be vulnerable with. Oh and always drive a little safer than Sully, at least.

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

Gosh I don't even know the exact moment. Probably heard his ridiculous accent first in class or frosh week and probably asked myself if he was lost or something in the wrong country. Then I figured out his humor and haven't been able to get rid of him.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Nothing can get this guy down! Even when odds seem stacked against him, he's always got a chipper attitude and a steady stream of ridiculous jokes. Ive always admired the optimism and the outlook he has on life. Andrew can always find the silver lining in the weirdest situations.

Imagine Andrew became an inanimate object. What would it be, and why?

A big black dildo! I mean a bag full of big black dildos! I mean a 6 pack of Natty ice! No! a bag of big black dildos, a six pack of Natty ice and a gamecube... Final answer. I really hope you get that reference Andy...

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

So many to count. A lot of fun trips! boys trip to Hawaii, gooning around in Phuket, Thailand! More specifically raging at that one bar with the live band that we went to two nights in a row! Still none of those compare to back in the days where we all just lived together during school, poor university boys, just drinking and having fun making the most of every night we could.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

All I can say is don't change at all Andrew. I've never had a friend as unique or as special as you. Glad you made it out to Cali to re-join the boys and I'm thankful I get to spend more time with you gooning around, just like the good old days. Also you're loosing your accent! Let's go to Scotland and get it back.

I met Andrew roughly 26/27 years ago at kirk church play group just off Colquhoun square in helensburgh.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Its Andrew's positivity and determination that I admire most.

A mountain bike. His love for adventure.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

I have a few that make me smile. Skating in his drive. Football in his garden. Staying for dinner and getting a pizza from the sun chippy. My trip to Canada (full body) California for xmas and new year 2011/12. Man hunt in hermi park The playing cards we found. Many many more.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Just keep being yourself. You have already achieved so much so just continue. You have a great attitude for life. Love you dude and I hope it's not to long until we see each other again. Keep safe.

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

As a bribery tactic Fiona and I were gifted a Polly Pocket each to soften the blow of a new human entering our lives. Years later I remember finding Andrew in my room playing with that Polly Pocket :P. It's the only toy I kept from my childhood.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew has a natural ability to build lasting friendships. There is no friend too far and no job too crazy to keep Andrew from nurturing his friendships. I think it's pretty admirable to be able to find a happy balance of work and friendships, but it seems like you've found a way to make it happen even if it means a red-eye flight for a quick 24 hour visit.

Imagine Andrew became an inanimate object. What would it be, and why?

Play-doh because first of all who doesn't love that wonderful smelling, brightly coloured, salty dough that can easily morph into any shape or object of your choosing. Andrew seems to find ways to embrace change and is not afraid to morph himself into new environments, new friendships and is very open to trying new things. Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

Our time together in Cambodia and Thailand was one for the books. All the hours spent exploring the underwater world was not only incredibly beautiful but also challenging. Many new skills were learned as well as mental strength to breathe through fear or when in doubt plug nose, close eyes and hope for the best! Couldn't have asked for a better underwater buddy. Oh how good those sunset drinks tasted after a full day of diving!

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

I'd say my 30's has been my favourite decade so far. People take you more seriously, money is less of a worry and things just seem a little less scary. With a good strong foundation and confidence in yourself your 30s is a perfect time to re-calibrate and look inward to what really makes you happy and keeps you motivated.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

He's 6'4. Every year when i have to put up and take down my christmas lights i'm like man i wish i was tall like mcdougall. I wouldn't need this stupid stepladder. Or like i'd be able to reach the extra cooking oil jug thats stored in the cabinet above the hood. that would be pretty sweet.

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

I was his boss at apple. I remember hearing stories of the legendary mcdougall. The a man who gave up his life as a rising star at toyota to be wandering vagrant, begpacking, eating and sleeping his way thorough the darkest and seediest corners of southeast asia. It was not easy to keep an objective view of his potential at apple knowing this but i tried my best. When i met him, he was exactly as i envisioned. Tall and gangly with a charming smile and and seductive eyes hidden behind and equally seductive set of warby parker frames. I was immediately smitten. Hired him on the spot.

Imagine Andrew became an inanimate object. What would it be, and why?

A cast iron pot. They can be used for just about anything. When i'm cooking and i dont know what pot to use, i can probably use the cast iron pot. Similarly at work, if i dont know who i should assign some project, i can probably assign it to mcd and it'll be just fine. They can take a real beating too. Which is nice at apple.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

Most of my memories with mcdougall are from work so they arent really "fond". I would say in general i definitely enjoyed sharing the same name as him. Sometimes they would assign action items to me and i would just say "hey go ahead and put an M next to andrew right there." Good times

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Whether it be professional or personal life, dont lose sight of the big picture. Sometimes you get stuck in the weeds of life just trying to get out but never forget the big picture and the end goals you are trying to achieve. Don't fk it up. i've used up the maximum allotted characters. Happy Birthday

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

I am definitely the first person to have met Andrew a.k.a. #1 son, the day he was born. He was supposed to arrive on May 1st however he decided to make an earlier appearance @ 11.p.m. on April 30th 1990. A beautiful baby boy, another precious gift.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew has always had great work ethics and been successful throughout his years at school, university and now his professional life. I have always admired his love of adventure e.g. living in Thailand and trying out new skills such as the scuba diving course he did when Alison went to visit him. Andrew has managed to maintain his connections to Scotland as he has kept in touch with friends from his nursery/primary school.

Imagine Andrew became an inanimate object. What would it be, and why?

Andrew would be an ultra fast snowboard ,zooming down the snow covered mountains of the world. He has always had a need for speed, excitement, travel opportunities as in his recent snowboarding trip to Japan.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

Andrew is my "Springtime" son so I have wonderful memories of taking him for walks in his pram along the cherry and apple blossom roads in Helensburgh. It always reminds me of "new life" and changing seasons. A funny memory of Andrew was when he was almost two he said "just one more minute" He will know what I am talking about? I have to mention how proud I was on Andrew's first day of school wearing his new uniform. Not to mention his graduation from High School and University.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Andrew you have already achieved a lot in your 30 years on this planet. You seem to have found the right balance in your life in work, family, friends and new opportunities through travel. I think these three words would be the best advice I could give Andrew - LIVE, LAUGH and LOVE. Have a wonderful 30th Birthday Andrew, make lots of new memories. I am keeping the champagne on hold!! Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

On tinder most likely, two good looking guys looking for a country club in Waterloo. Jkjk, definitely met Andrew through the infamous hold back year in Waterloo. It’s a good thing they held back reasonably interesting people and not just a bunch of nerds.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Definitely the accent. I don’t have any other Australian friends. Hahaha. I mean Scottish... oh, maybe Irish, one of those. Aside from that, Andrew has always had an eye on side projects of an entrepreneurial nature, it is easy to tell his brain is constantly looking for opportunities, that makes a conversation always worth the time.

Definitely a totem pole. A very thin one, with a frog on the top. Mostly because he is tall and jumps around the world building how crazy story.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

Less of a memory and more of a slice of who I am as a person, I had Andrew up to our family compound Wahsoune. We had just finished school and he had reached out to catch up. Over the years I have found we ping each other once and a while to check in, it has continued to be consistent. I think we will keep this up, and I think both of us are going to find interesting opportunities as we navigate this world. I look forward to sharing our paths as they unfold.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Just keep doing what you are doing, maybe marry a smart woman, have a couple kids. I’m sure you will be happy.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew always brings a laugh and a balanced perspective to our conversations. He is hilarious with his story telling of his life experiences and there are definitely plenty of those. I appreciate that Andrew is non-reactionary, straight to the point, zero bullshit, and stands behind his words.

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

I swiped right on bumble and we matched! I messaged him hello and we started chit chatting. He was in Shanghai and I was traveling for work in Singapore/Hong Kong so it was weeks before we met in person. Then we finally met at a coffee shop in San Francisco called Milk Bean! I was in love with him.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

He is kind, generous, and patient. He always offers to help others, but doesn't expect anything in return. He always offers to do errands, drive the car, carry the groceries, cook, etc... Funny story, last summer a group of us went to Yosemite to hike Half Dome, my girlfriends and I were sitting outside the cabin and they asked me what my favorite thing about Andrew was... I mentioned he is always very generous, for example, he always asks me if I want eggs every morning. Unplanned, Andrew walks out to the deck and says "sorry to interrupt, do you girls want me to make you eggs". We were dying laughing.

A tree. Tall, full of life, and brings happiness to the world. A tree constantly grows and makes life around it for the better. A tree never stops growing and has curly leaves on the top.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

My favorite time is when we were in Italy together for 2 weeks. It was both our first time and we ate pizza and pasta every single day. One of my favorite memories from Italy is on the Amalfi coast, we had the best Airbnb listing and our own private huge deck which overlooked the coast. We cooked and laid out in the sun all trip. We also celebrated his good friend Ross and Amy’s wedding and kayaked on the Amalfi coat for our 1 year anniversary. Other favorite memory is worm baby.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Never stop being who you are and always continue having fun everyday. Keep telling stories, watching chube, phone your friends/family, and keep making me eggs.

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

It was two years ago that he joined the greatest team at Apple and assigned to work with me, lucky him (also lucky me)! This sweet boy gave me a box of See’s candies the first time he arrived China, I remembered I saw him at the lobby before I took him to grab some dinner and introduced him about this crazy city, he is so tall! Since then we have been working on the same projects till I left this team, I’m very grateful to have this buddy during my time at this team, he’s always calm and nice, I learned a lot from him!

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

He’s mature, polite and thoughtful, at work I was a bit inpatient and I remembered I asked him how he stays calm and he told me - “look from above”. Guess this is something I’ll never forget. He’s also very smart and hard working, he improves so fast that he can already handle most things independently at work now in just two years (I’d give him a promotion if I could). Everyone at work likes him, this team is very lucky to have him!

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

Ah definitely the first product we ramped together! It wasn’t an easy year with a lot of challenges, but we made it happen! All those joys and maybe tears, but it was nice working with him to go through all those shits.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Andrew, happy birthday! Sometimes just don’t worry too much and things will be fine. And the most important is just be you and enjoy life, be happy!

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

Probably at the hospital the day he was ready to come home, I don’t remember the meeting at all (all babies look like potatoes), just the Polly Pockets Alison and I were given to help with this new reality of having a brother :P

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

His ability to stay positive in a tough spot. Whether that’s dealing with a highway blowout—and the fallout from that—as well as the social challenge of dealing with the most introverted tow truck driver in Michigan—getting stuck in Omaha, no AC crossing the Nevada dessert and improv-ing with big gulps and Chill-Its. He’s definitely been in more challenging situations since that memorable Mazda trip, but I’ll bet his ability to stay upbeat, keep the moaning to a minimum, and focus on problem solving is serving him well.

A frisbee—tough yet flexible, slim and energetic, best enjoyed outdoors with good friends. It's a wee bit silly, but you can't help but smile when you interact with it.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

All the adversity aside, I look back so fondly on that road trip. I got to see a cross section of a massive country with a human I love. With another person that same trip might’ve been a nightmare—your ability to keep the jokes coming when shit was hitting the fan or when we were eating our 12th Subway sandwich in a row, meant that it was still a really good time.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

A Sam Harris musing I made note of for myself recently: “The core illusion of human life is our deferral of wellbeing to such a time as it’s deemed truly warranted by whatever expectations you have imbibed from culture, or your upbringing, or your lousy genes, or whatever it is that has conspired to make us as future oriented as we are.” Basically, don’t mortgage your happiness on milestones you’ve placed on the horizon. You’re already pretty good at enjoying the moment you’re in, so just keep it up!

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

I always thought it was at Kirkmichael Nursery. But Alan crushed that dream about 10 years ago by informing me neither Andrew, Aaron or Alan went to Kirkmichael - so it must have been P1 at Hermitage Primary. Miss Twists Class. I remember thinking - 'this guy is a bit weird but he has a cool house next to the park, so I'll give him a chance'. Turns out I was right...

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Loyalty. You have made tremendous effort to keep in touch with visits to Scotland, skypes, holidays to Tenerife when we were 18 (lets not get into that please...) and visiting me in America (Twice!). The Helensburgh lads always appreciate your efforts and refusing to let the group lose touch.

*** looks up definition of inanimate***. Hard to imagine your personality through an inanimate object... A boomerang because you always come back to Scotland...?

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

I remember we were sledging in Hermy Park and the KYB stole our sledges. I tried to be diplomatic and talk them into giving us the sledges back (because I was, and still am, a pussy), but you and Aaron chased them till we got them back. I like to think I played my part. But the reality is you and Aaron saved the sledges that day, and I learned a valuable lesson.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Keep doing what you're doing. Please do not take a job that involves sleeping in your car. That should be a given but recent experience says otherwise! Turning 30 is strange. But don't let it be a deadline age where you should have reached certain goals. There's still time for all of us! Keep in touch with Ada's boys. It will keep you grounded as you build your empire! Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

Andrew and I probably met during orientation week interning at Tesla. I knew this guy Paul who lived with Andrew’s friends Kevin and Lovey. Paul ditched me to go to some club in the Marina so the guys were left with me.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

I went backpacking with Andrew one time. We all brought proper backpacks but Andrew brought a 90L duffle bag filled up all the way. I probably would have complained like a little bitch but Andrew didn’t say a word and speed walked ahead of everyone. I’m not sure what virtue or quality that is but it was for sure admirable. Mans got legs!

Andrew would probably be a podcast. He’s got some good stories! Probably not NPR though, they can be a bit not pc sometimes. 🤙

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

Andrew, Kevin and I spent some money to go go-kart racing. There isn’t much of a story here but I just remember it being a really fun day. Hopefully we get to do more of that in the future.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

I don’t really have any advice to give you but happy 30th birthday Andy! It sucks that you’re probably going to be spending it in Covid lockdown but I’m sure we’ll get a chance to celebrate properly once this is over. Cheers m8!

We met Andrew in University through mutual friends.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

His height ..... and his new dirt bike. All jokes aside, Andrew is one of the most kind and thoughtful people we know. While we were living in Ireland, we appreciated how Andrew always made the effort to check-in and stay in touch.

A Fridge... because Andrew is the coolest guy we know!

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

We have so many great memories with Andrew from University events, cottage weekends and friend get togethers. One that stands out is when Andrew made the trek back for my bachelor party and risked his life and sight to launch a rocket into space!!

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Invite us over lots and share your toys with Jeff so he can stop bugging me to buy a dirt bike and go kart! Andrew always be true to yourself and never waiver. Be the kind and caring person we have got to know and love over the years.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

I am not sure what you are doing at the moment but I think you will have lots of ideas. Embrace life and all that it offers.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Always think of your glass as half full and not half empty. Opportunities often appear when we are not expecting them. Probably my most important advice would be to look after your family and friends as they are the ones that will enrich your life in so many ways. Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

I think I met that bastard in second-year at the ol' Dietz shithouse in Waterloo. I would have asked myself - who is this curly-headed doofus hanging around and who brought him here? We don't need any more tall people on this side of Erb street - some of us are trying to meet girls, thank you very much. Andrew quickly won me over with his great sense of humour and we've been great friends ever since.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

McDouge is a next-level story teller. It can be weeks or months after something stupid and hilarious happened, and Andrew will be able to perfectly re-create the scene, and bring back all the laughs and drama. I love when McDouge calls from the other side of the world, with a new story of someone getting locked in (and breaking out of) a Thai prison.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

Tough to pick just one - our trips to 'Merica, Asia, and Europe all come to mind - so many memories of laughing our asses off at ourselves and at our friends. Ripping through the Scottish highlands in the blue Caterham car that we rented from Boyd, mutually scaring the crap out of each other with our driving techniques and then having a fighter jet drop a chemtrail on our heads, was a solid afternoon, among many.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Nothing specific, since he seems to be living a great life, surrounded by family and friends. I would just remind him, as I regularly remind myself, that life is all about moments, so try not worry too much about the distant future, which we have limited control over, and focus more on making the present and the near-future as filled with joy as possible (and keep telling great stories to make us laugh).

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

I don't actually have a very clear recollection of our first encounter, but the most vivid early memory I have of Andrew would be when I was picked up from my playgroup (West Kirk) by mum and Andrew was showing off his climbing/balancing skills on the wall outside. At the time the relative height of the wall seemed immense, but with the benefit of hindsight the wall can't of been more than 40cm off the ground and was probably 30cm wide. Not much of an Everest, more like a small step.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

I would say that Andrew has always been rather level-headed/cool under pressure. I admire his ability to use this level-headedness to rise to the challenge and overcome whatever obstacles life throws his way, while remaining focused on the goal ahead.

I think Andrew would be a Uni-Ball pen because he is very reliable, dependable, resilient and will hopefully last for a very long time. Just like a good quality Japanese made Uni-Ball pen which is waterproof, fade-proof, and seems to lasts forever.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

I remember building pillow/blanket forts in our parent's bed. The long peach coloured, triangular shaped pillow was always fought over, and on many occasions used to deliver a few good whacks to the head of one another.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Never an easy task, but I would say don't be afraid of taking risks. You are still young (enough) to recover from any short-term setbacks that may come your way.

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

Andrew and I met sometime in the first year at Waterloo. Who knows when it actually happened though; could have been in line at V1 getting spicy chicken wraps, at a jewish frat kegger or trying to catch a Canada goose on campus. Realistically though that friendship was solidified when we all failed miserably in 1B and came back around for that victory lap. Somehow we made it through school and now there's no looking back.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew's selflessness is definitely his most notable quality to me. Andrew will always go out of his way to help a friend and he'll never make a fuss about it.

Andrew would definitely be an old British sports car. Something like an old MG roadster or Morgan; pretty lightweight, thin tires (less traction) just enough power and a ton of fun!

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

My favorite memories have still gotta be all the rave nights. Nothing like hearing some good old melodic synths turning around and seeing Andy doing his signature dance moves. It had its ups and downs but Decadence in 2011 was one hell of a night!

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Work less, enjoy life more & move back to Thailand (or Vietnam) and take me with you this time!

I met Andrew at the McDougall household when I went to hang out there with Kenneth. They had moved to Canada when Kenneth and I were in 4th grade, so none of Kenneth's siblings attended our K-4 elementary school. I'd never had a close friend with more than one sibling, so their house always seemed busy and full of people compared to others I'd visited.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew, being two years older than Kenneth and I, always seemed to be just that little bit bigger, faster, and stronger. He was always the epitome of the older brother, slightly terrifying but usually dormant and indifferent.

Maybe a mountain bike, one that Kenneth isn't allowed to go anywhere near.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

Most of my interactions with Andrew were around the Xbox, playing Halo: Combat Evolved or James Bond 007: Nightfire. I don't think that I'll ever shake the feeling of seeing him pick up the a sniper rifle on his portion of the split-screen and knowing that it was practically game over for me.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

I'm not especially wise nor well travelled, so I don't have much in the way of advice. I do know, however, that you are always within 13,000km of a dangerous person, animal, or object, so stay alert!

I have an early memory of Andrew visiting Toronto and hanging out with with some of our friends from university. When Andrew mentioned he went to Waterloo, one of our friends asked “Oh! Do you know my friend?”, Andrew emphatically replied, “Yes!”. Excited, the friend replied, “Really?!?”. Andrew promptly shouted, “NO! It's a big school!” as everyone broke out laughing. Just like that, he won over the room. I thought he was charming, charismatic and pretty cool. I was also not the only one smitten by him, as I found out the next morning that he spent the night with one of Fiona's friends.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew naturally finds opportunities for play, and capitalizes on them with a confidence that compels you to join in. I noticed this a lot during out Mexico trip. Whether he's trying to convince Kenneth we are being robbed by a man in a Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling mask while on a video chat, or creating an enormous splash by cannon-balling into the pool right before the family portrait, Andrew genuinely just wants to have fun and make you laugh (even if a few hair do's are ruined in the process).

A good egg: well-balanced, healthy, humble, adaptable and liked by almost everyone. Andrew also seems to like eating eggs and cooking them for other people.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

My fondest memories of Andrew are during times when he'd be passing by Toronto, and stop by our place to catch up over a few beers and sometimes a place to crash. I remember on one of these visits we'd gone into our workshop and somehow found ourselves passing these dowels around and rolling them back and forth under our feet. It felt kind of nice and I remember laughing a lot at how silly it probably looked: a bunch of adults rolling cylindrical wood-scraps under our feet, laughing hysterically and clearly quite high.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Go dirt-biking.

For the life of me I can’t remember the first time we met. Was it at the boat racing party? One of the Jew keggers? Who cares, it was probably an awesome night.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

So many great memories of course. The one that immediately comes to mind is you getting shot in the face by that firework at Chang’s bach haha. That moment will be burned into my memory just like it was burned into the space between your eyes. Another highlight that we both actually enjoyed: Ripping the Accord and Protege through the Smokey Mountains in the early morning (and thereafter finding out that this resulted in a cracked piston head and caused us to be forced to spend an interesting afternoon at a garage in rural Kentucky).

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Meh, you don’t need any advice from me man. Keep doing you and please never change!! Sad to not get to see your more often than I do these days but I’m sure the next time we cross paths it’ll be like no time has passed at all :) Be well, brother!

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

I met Andrew through my brother Nigel, who also went to UWaterloo. Andrew and I initially met at an ugly christmas sweater keg party during university. It was the first time Nigel had invited me to one of his friend's parties. I understand why he was so hesitant before; by the end of the evening I had done a lengthly keg stand, been 'burger flipped' , and was asked to be in a threesome (I did not participate). It was an interesting and festive evening.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew was always good at keeping a clear head and really thinking things through. If I were on a malfunctioning space ship spiralling into possibly death I think would want Andrew to be there because he would keep me calm and even potentially fix the spaceship. However, under his calm and sometimes serious surface layer he is a real goofball, who truly appreciates the goofiness of others. I always felt appreciated by Andrew through all his laughs!

A knife. Sharp, useful and multi-talented. And also dangerous.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

There are so many to choose from! One that comes to mind was when we went to Algonquin park to canoe over the May long weekend. We found this marshy looking area and caught these huge tadpoles and then saw something hidden in the long reeds by the shore. It turned out to be a huge moose skull with Antlers! We wondered where the rest of the body was and if we were the first people ever to find it. I also recall Andrew dragging the canoe through a muddy area at some point getting eaten alive by mosquitos in his undies...

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

My advice to him is to always enjoy the present, and the little things. Andrew, I hope you never lose your appreciation for goofy moments. Don't be afraid to be communicate your fears. Show people your soft side-- we all appreciate it and know it's in there! :)

If Andrew was an inanimate object, he would be a clothes hanger. He is wiry as fuck -- and he supports those around him.

Scott met Andrew in Waterloo through a couple of common friends in 2013. Not very exciting -- but they met!

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew is simultaneously laid back and industrious. He is creative and kind-hearted.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

It was a big deal for us for Andrew to come to our non-wedding wedding at the farm in 2017. As always, he was the life of the party. We also miss our Kitchener hangouts when Andrew was sleeping on an air mattress in Stas and Adam's apartment for a year. This guy would always give you the shirt off his back -- Scott assumes that's what happened because he still has two of Andrew's shirts... and a pair of his boots.

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

Andrew and I met among the recluses and weeaboos (myself included) of the Village 1 North 5 residence on the U of Waterloo campus. I don't remember the moment we met, but I remember very early on discussing whether you would rather have only rice or only potatoes if you were stuck on an island with nothing else to eat.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew is one of the most resourceful people I know. Since he also happens to be incredibly intelligent and quite charming, it's a deadly combination where you could drop him anywhere in the world and he'd find a way to thrive.

Andrew would be a fog horn. It sounds hilarious, is used for pranks and jokes, but ultimately is essential for certain emergencies.

Describe a fond memory you recall having shared with Andrew?

One of my fondest memories with Andrew was when we did the century club to decide which of us would get first pick of the rooms in our new house. The other two guys (Mike and Daryl) didn't make it, so Andrew and I had to settle the score by doing ridiculous activities across campus to gain points. This included, but wasn't limited to trying to catch Canada geese, kicking big garbage bins, flipping tables in the cafeteria, and general shouting and belligerence across campus. What a great ol' rowdy time.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

Keep doing what you're doing! You'r'e living your life to the fullest, wherever that may be. Just never forget to stay close to family.

Alison and I were coming back to Toronto from a cottage. Being a frequent flyer, Andrew was passing through town for the day. We met up with him (and many others) at Bandit Brewery. I remember not talking to him the entire time except for when we said bye and he seemed like a nice guy.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew is not afraid to speak up in tough situations. Let’s not forget about the time in Tulum where he called-out a tanned raisin of a lady for lying about fixing the hot water. Seeing Andrew gave me the courage to join in (I think we bonded).

Andrew is spaghetti. Yes, he does love a good old plate from Delfina, but if you think of it the noodle mimics him in form and personality. Skinny and tall. A classic, go to dish that everyone loves.

Enjoying SF nightlife in the Mission District. Andrew and Debbie took us to some great bars. By the end of the night we were downing massive margaritas at the Latin American Club and that’s where this memory becomes blurry.

What advice can you offer Andrew for the future?

You’re turning 30 in such a chaotic year. Some give in to the distraction, others self-isolate in a cabin and take mushrooms to rise out of these times with a new perspective. Not saying you have to do that, but now is the time to look inward and see what you really want from life.

Explain how you came to meet Andrew?

I (Chris) sat down in my first mechanical engineering class, when all of a sudden and odd sound was heard behind me.... what's that language I wondered? Not a Scotsman, could it be? I knew that if I became friends with that guy with the accent, then I could take advantage of using him to meet girls.... Over the next few weeks we formed an incredible group of friends in that class that has stood the test of time.

Describe a quality or virtue of Andrew’s that you admire?

Andrew is incredibly good at staying in touch and valuing friendship. He always makes an effort and checks in to see how everyone is doing, and it's small actions like that which keep friends close regardless of distance. Another amazing quality of Andrew's is his positive attitude towards life. His happy mood and laughter are contagious, and he is always a joy to be around.

A cabin in the woods. A place to be enjoyed alone in solitude, or for a party among friends.

Andrew was the MC at our wedding. Despite the torrential downpours that put a damper on the day, Andrew did a fantastic job of making everyone laugh and enjoy the evening. We even saw him sneak in a little dance with Aunt Carol! ;)

Age is just a number. Make the most of every day and never forget that life is made of small moments. Keep on learning, exploring, and enjoying everything this beautiful world has to offer! Do what makes you happy, You are always at your best when you are worry free and living the dream.
